Majelden is a senior care, developed together with Marge Architects. The nature is the leading theme in the proposal. The terrain, cliffs, pines, deciduous trees, lingonberry sprigs and the potential view, give the site its grand qualities, both as a value visible from within the building and the possibility for stimulating outdoor activities. The design, placement and layout of the building is thereby chosen and planned to provide an optimized exchange between building and existing landscape, between outside and inside. To adapt Majelden to the scale of the surroundings, the building is divided into two divisions. Diverse directions are given to their volumes, which also vary in height, to optimize the connection to the terrain.

In approximation to the building, a more considered and assessable landscape is added. An adapted square in front of the building, supports necessary functions such as entrances, places for parking and turning facilities for unloading vehicles. The surface of the square is slightly sloping. An edge is created towards the existing landscape that drops from east to west. Together with the building, this sharp edge between the nature and the square conveys a distinction between the built and the non-built. To strengthen this further, additional cut-ins are made in the square to accommodate existing vegetation with mature pine trees and deciduous trees as well as new green areas which relates to the surrounding nature in both plant selection and composition.
