Whilst the former tax office building “Skatteskrapan” in Stockholm was transformed into new student accommodation, the neighbouring park Rosenlundsparken, one of Södermalms major parks, was afforded a renovation. New links between the street and the park have been established, sports surfaces have been created and the residents of Stockholm have been given a new social meeting place; a set of furniture with 30 sun lounges and umbrellas, raised as homage to the Swedes’ constant longing for sun and holidays.

”The Beach", Rosenlundparken, was awarded with the Siena Prize in 2008.

Architect: Sofia Nylén, Sylvia Kornstad, Johannes Rydberg and the furniture designers of “the beach" Thomas Bernstrand. The project was implemented during employment for Grontmij AB. Client: City of Stockholm, IngerÅberg. Project: Program and planning. Built: 2008.
