The renewal of Vasaparken strives to create an enduring urban space for contemporary activities within the frame of the traditional park. The restoration is one of the most profound renewals of public parks that has taken place in Stockholm for decades and the first example of a more radical transformation of an old 19th century park into a park that meets today’s needs and requirements. An artificial grass lawn combined with an ice skating field, new park benches and meeting places, as well as a brand new playground are additions to the park, formed after the principal that each activity should have a clear architectural expression. Vasaparken has evolved into one of Stockholm main venues. Here, an urban park culture more common in the rest of Europe thrives – a rarity in Sweden.

Vasaparken was awarded the Siena Prize in 2007 and has been published in a variety of magazines..
