Villa Solbrinken, Nacka - Stockholm. The two new villas are located near a hilly forested countryside which has been important aspect to take into account when landscaping. Focus has been laid upon creating and maintaining the views from the windows located on the ends of the house. On one side these face the wild blueberries and pine trees of the forest. The other side views across the gravel courtyard between the buildings where a concreted wall, that also provides seating, has been raised. Two existing oaks have been preserved as solitary elements of the central patio. New Japanese cherry trees highlight different places in the yard and provide intimacy and atmosphere to the space. The entrance has been framed with meadow and birch trees. An existing stairway flanked by rhododendrons and laburnum leads up to the studio and villa. The new plants complement the existing landscape and aim to create more variations throughout the seasons.
