The existing grass meadows, with mature trees and a stretch of water, founded the starting point for the design of Ängsnäs. The ambition was to let the preconditions of the place with its special nature character be visible in the buildings wooden facades, the small-scaleness and in the gardens.

In a contemporary interpretation of the old garden city, a variation of dwellings – two-family houses, townhouses and low multi-family dwellings with carefully planned gardens, are organized around a shared park. The meadow park, the buildings with their gardens and the street scene create a coherent whole. Grey patented pine heartwood appears as a unifying material in the buildings, storage units and in the low dividers between the dwelling units. The gardens harmonize with the existing fauna found on the meadows and elements of grass, willows and birch are added. With small paths and openings from the gardens, the area is connected to the meadows of the park.
